Rose Turmeric Oatmeal


Summer is an ideal time to include roses in your meals; yes its not just for externally applying on your skin! Starting the morning off with roses in your diet can lead to a balanced and relaxing day. This breakfast recipe includes the nourishing and cooling undertones to balance vata-pitta energies; small amount of heat/ spice can balance this meal for kapha constitutions as well. Besides enhancing your skin complexion and hydrating your skin, roses sweeten and de-stress your mood making it essential to balance your emotions on hot summer days. Additionally, roses soothe your gut, especially if inflamed and pacify excess heat in your circulation. Including roses in your food always makes you feel special, even though it seems as such a small action, the use of roses speaks to not only your senses but mind-body-soul as well.


Recipe


1/4 cup oatmeal or museli

1/2 cup organic cow's milk or nut-milk( coconut milk for pitta )

1/2 cup water

1/4tsp turmeric

1-2 drops of rose water

1/4- 1/2 tsp of coconut sugar or honey( ideal for kapha )

1/4 tsp of dried rose petals

**1/8 tsp ginger powder( ideal for kapha) optional


****Additions

1tsp of sliced almonds( soaked is best) for added nourishment best for vata constitutions. Coconut flakes, flaxseed, or hemp seeds 1 tsp are other additions for pitta and kapha constitutions.


Instructions


Boil water, milk, and oatmeal on the stove for 10- 15 min till oatmeal has turned soft on medium heat. Reduce to low heat once comes to boil.

Add turmeric while mixture is boiling.


After oatmeal is boiling for 10 minutes, add sugar and rose water.

Take off of stove and garnish with dried rose petals, and addition of your perferred nuts!
